MycoSense is one of the hottest Agriculture-tech startups in Switzerland.  We build tools that help ensure the sustainability of the global food supply using Machine Learning, AI, computer vision and robotics.  Our team of engineers has built products used by large-scale industrial farmers in Switzerland and internationally.

We are seeking an Internet-of-Things System Administrator with software development skills, to strengthen our team based in Lausanne, Switzerland. This presents an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing startup in an exciting, trending area that combines sustainability in agriculture and ultra-high-tech systems.

As our IoT SysAdmin you will be assisting in creating the IoT connectivity architecture necessary to track and administer our growing fleet of remotely connected devices.   Our systems are used at client sites, connected to our cloud services using 6thgen Wifi, 4/5G broadband, ethernet, and cloud infrastructures.

Your responsibilities will include making decisions about technologies, systems architecture, development tools and administration platforms, with the goal of ensuring the flawless operation.  You will select and purchase equipment, configure, install, and administer systems built with the latest wireless and cloud technologies.  You will also architect and program an administration back-end that will enable our team to monitor our fleet of connected devices remotely.

A particular focus on security will require knowledge of strong authentication, federated identity management, content protection through digital signature, and secure channel establishment (SSL, SSH tunnels, VPN). Knowledge of front-end development and frameworks is also required as you will be responsible for integrating front-end elements built by you and your co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Architecture, design and implementation of high-availability, scalable, and performance-efficient systems supporting on-demand workloads, large-scale processing and data transfer.

• Support the deployment of software over major cloud providers (e.g. AWS, GCP, and Azure) as well as on premise.

• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code including user-facing elements connected with server-side logic

• Plan the implementation of new product features, providing estimations of timing and effort, ultimately delivering on schedule

• Provide technical and thought leadership within your knowledge domain and set a precedent for operational excellence across the organisation

 

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Linux system administration

• Working knowledge of network management and network infrastructure monitoring (Syslog, ELK) 

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and their implementation

• Hands-on experience with Docker and with virtualization technologies

• Experience with web application deployment on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, as well as on on-premise infrastructures.

• Strong understanding of accessibility and security compliance and knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments

• Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes (Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases)

• Strong unit-testing and debugging skills

• Experience with front-end technologies, such as JavaScript (especially Vue.js and React), 

• Fluent in French or English, spoken and written

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience with Wifi mesh networking devices

• Experience with Agile methodologies and processes

• German language skills
